The Process
Here at Chandler, we are the ones that do all the reclamation work. We
are a part of the process all the way from tearing down the century old
homes and businesses, to milling the flooring. Our guys go out and hand
tear down the buildings, one nail at a time, making sure they rescue as
much of the lumber as possible, and trying to keep as much of its
original character as they can.
After the buildings have been reclaimed, all the lumber comes to our
business where we have a group of people that hand remove all of the
nails, trying not to damage the wood in the process. Then all of the
wood gets started in the milling process. The first machine cuts the
wood down to width, making all of the edges straight. The next machine
then cuts the wood to the thickness needed to make the flooring. The
last machine then cuts the tongue and groove into the sides, the relief
grooves into the backs, and planes the surface. The wood comes out of
the machine ready to install. We then bundle it up and get it ready to
ship to the customers.
